Coming up with smart solutions is a breeze to the GO! Spectrum school in Deurne. For the final year electromechanics, the school completed a virtual thesis and after the lockdown she brought all students who needed extra support back to school. Good for dozens of happy students who quickly rush towards their curriculum goals.

With the summer holidays approaching, final-year students have to deliver their thesis. But that is not obvious in practice-oriented courses, because how do you get started when the practice rooms at school are closed? The go! Spectrum school in Deurne came up with a smart answer for her sixth year Electromechanics. “We recreated the entire studio in a virtual lab,” says teacher Mohamed Al Farisi, the driving force behind the project. “Under normal circumstances, our students work in the practical classroom on an automation process on miniaturized production machines. Now they program a simulator from home that replaces the control, but that also works on the real machines. Thus, the virtual environment and reality are compatible. To get everything ready, we worked closely with a few companies that quickly provided free licenses. ”
