Reception class Foreign-language Newcomers
In Reception class for foreign-language newcomers teaching methodology young people (between 11 and 18 years old) who have only just arrived in Belgium Dutch . A warm welcome is central to OKAN. We prepare students for a transition to a form of education that best suits their abilities and interests.
OKAN is not a separate story on our campus.
The method "Learn + Discover”Is also applied to our OKAN students.
In addition and we go through our switching processes looking for the appropriate further training for the pupil.

- You are between 11 and 18 years old.
- You have not been in Belgium for more than 1 year.
- Your home language or mother tongue is not Dutch.
Switch class 1
Age: 11 to 13 years
Target group: young people who want to progress to 1st grade B flow but still have to work on language skills, especially reading and writing
Switch? These students follow OKAN + modules with 1B and progress through the year to the 1st grade when they are ready
Switching class L + W
Age: 16 to 18 years
Target group: all students from OKAN who want to transfer to Learning + Working
Switch?
- Full-time content with extra Dutch lessons
- Sniffing internships in practical subjects
- Extensive study guidance
- Transfer to L + W when the student is ready
Bridging classes 1 & 2 will take place on the Plantijn campus in Borgerhout, the bridging class L+W will take place on campus Ruggedveld in Deurne.
