Spectrum school > Our courses > STEM> Engineering & Technology > Production operator Metal – CNC – 3rd degree
An education Learning + Skills (TSO) of GO! Spectrumschool, Campus Ruggeveld

What are you learning?

The metal production operator follows the production process on the machine street or installation to process or finish metal. He supervises the smooth running of production and intervenes in the event of minor deviations or technical malfunctions. He performs quality checks at regular intervals. He sets the machine street or installation in and around and performs preventive maintenance. He reports the production trend.

You learn to work with a metal lathe, a milling machine and a CNC. You follow 1 day practice at school, 1 day general education at school and 3 days paid practical training in the workplace.

The Metal Production Operator training in our learn dual training format consists of 4 modules:

  • Machine control or (partial) installation
  • Operation machine street or installation
  • Metalworking initiation
  • Follow-up production process

A partial certificate is issued for each module that has been successfully completed.
A certificate is issued for every course that has been successfully completed.

“After my studies on GO! Spectrumschool I obtained a professional bachelor in automation. For a while I worked as a robotics engineer. Now I work as a controls project engineer. I mainly program PLCs and implement installations. The skills I have on GO! I was still taught Spectrum School in my job every day. ”

Younes, former student, now an engineer in Canada

“We work on a project basis from start to finish; with our hands and with computer-controlled technology. It gives me great satisfaction that you put something together yourself and then actually see it work. ”

Learning and working also know you under the name learn dual.

You learn a Profession or profession By combining work and learning.
So you go to school two days a week and work for three days.
You receive a report four times a year with your results of both your performance at school and at work.

In Vocational training you learn a profession and can obtain a certificate of professional qualification.

In addition, you also follow one day a week general subjects according to the curriculum of vocational education. In the general subjects you can take a second degree, a third degree or and obtain your secondary education diploma.

Learning and working is a unique system.
We work without points. You will only be judged on what you can.
Your results in the general subjects (PAV) do not affect your results in the practical subjects.

We work modular so that you can graduate during the year. Once you have reached all competencies in PAV, you will be awarded your degree or diploma.

So you can't "stay put" and you study at your own pace.
