An education Learning + Skills (labor market finality) of GO! Spectrum school, Campus Ruggeveld
What are you learning?
In full-time BSO training Basic Mechanics (Tool) machines you learn manual or computer-controlled machines to process materials. You will be turning, milling and grinding and you will learn to assemble and disassemble mechanical structures. You also learn to work with the CNC machine. You learn to deal smoothly with working drawings, work analyzes and working methods. It is a very practical training with rather few general subjects. The focus is on acquiring knowledge, skills and experience through the many practice hours and during the Internship.
In 2e degree Machines you will learn basic techniques such as drilling, sawing, turning and grinding and skills such as to let, soldering and folding. In our workshop you will learn about the operation and maintenance of bearings (sliding and rolling bearings). You will learn to assemble and disassemble, determine wear and tear and report on defects. You apply this theoretical knowledge to all kinds of equipment, such as robots, cranes, trains, etc. You will learn filing and/or milling (aligning and clamping...), turning (clamping, thread cutting, cylinders...), CNC techniques and surface grinding. In the past, this professional knowledge was sometimes referred to as a stepping stone to a profession as a turner-miller. That is still true, but due to the intensive use of computers and ICT, we also train you to work with CNC machines.
In 3e degree Machine tools you will be prepared to become a real craftsman / woman who can process various materials with manually operated or computer-controlled machines. In our workshop you practice with drills, lathes, welding equipment, milling and grinding machines. You learn to weld and solder sheet and profile material, install energy circuits, assemble and disassemble and adjust mechanical construction components. You also learn to program CNC machines, use drawing programs on the computer, work with spreadsheets for cost price calculation, etc.
During you Internship you get an extensive chance of what you know and can apply in practice. You also taste the real work situation inside a company.
Something for you?
For who?
Are you interested in manual, mechanical, but also computer-controlled operation of metal? Are you accurate and willing to learn from practice and are you not averse to physical work?
Then this direction may be something for you.
What do we expect?
You can always start in the Machinery course, although basic knowledge of metal & mechanics is certainly a plus. However, the will to work and to learn in a practical way is very important.
A good preparatory course is the 1 degree of industry.
What after?
After the 3e degree (Tool) machines you get it certificate of Secondary Education. You then have, however not yet a secondary education diploma. It is therefore recommended to have one 7e specialisatiejaar to follow. On our school you can specialize in the Automotive study area Computer controlled machine tools. After getting it certificate of Secondary Education Are you a metalworker and can you work on the workplace or even start your own business.

From the 3 degree Internship an essential part of the training, but students also come earlier contact with the shop floor and the business world itself.
Our stewards and employees have employment years of experience with guiding our students on the work floor. Within each learning domain we have an extensive network of companies where internships can be run.
There are also walking many collaborations with sectors, companies we work on project-based, such as VDAB, Agoria, Umicore, Atlas Copco, etc.
This system certainly pays. 7 on 10 employers will hire someone sooner if they have had a form of workplace learning during their training, according to UNIZO research. "Workplace learning should become self-evident in all training courses, and should be directly in line with the needs of the companies themselves," said former UNIZO CEO Karel Van Eetvelt.
If you choose Learning + Skills you follow a full-time training. You become skilled in your profession and you become acquainted with the labor market. You choose a field within Industry, STEM, Sports or Healthcare (Society & Welfare).
You get practical training by our subject expert teachers. Learning on the work floor is an important part of our full-time courses in Learning + Competences. Through internships, workplace learning and cooperation with sectors and companies you will be guided to one good place in the labor market. We also offer some of the courses indoors Duaal Learning.
If you pass one of our training courses you get it certificate of Secondary Education. Also a certificate business management is possible.
Our school domain and practice workshops offer ample practical possibilities.
We offer you one tailor-made route waarin Individual guidance and a warm learning climate being central.
